Baju Sedondon

Assalammualaikum,

It's been quite a while I did not even had a peek on this blog. I do not know where this 'angin' comes from, but I think I will start to be active again. Tapi jangan pecaya sangat hahahaha. I guess that's it, my first post blog is a bout my recent COMPLETED PROJECT. Baju sedondon. I have always wanted to do this project, team boys vs team girls. Alhamdulillah managed to do this in a just a weekend! I believe if I took longer than that, this project will ended up as unfinished projects dihimpun bawah meja hahahha.. Pattern for this raglan I did it from scratch (ehh not really scratch lah). I used t-shirt that they most comfortably with, outline it and draw the raglan sleeve. Easy peasy, even easier that the basic tee.

Really love the outcome. Nanti nak buat lagi..

That's all for today. Ehh ada lagi ka orang layan blog ni? :p
If you happen to drop by here, please leave a comment ya.

NoN tOxIc EaTabLe PlaY DoUgH

Assalammualaikum and Selamat Sejahtera,

My new project for the kids' activity. Ohh how they looooooove playing with this 'plastisin'. I am glad that finally I had the 'urge' to do it since I felt that the kids' does not have much fun activities to do during their recent long school holiday. I found this great post in this blog, THE BEST PLAY DOUGH RECIPE. It is so simple and easy to do, the best part is all the ingredients are easy to find locally. You can refer to the recipe and the the detail  step by step photos in the blog. But, I will put it here just in case. :)

2 cups of wheat flour
1 cup of tap water
Quarter cup of salt
1 tsp of cooking oil
2 tsp of cream of tar tar
Food colouring (depends how deep/bright the colour you want, but I used 2 tsp)

I prepared 3 colours so that I can teach Husna on colours.

Part uli sangat best!! warm and squishy!

I divided into 2 parts. The preparation time for each colour is approximately 10minutes.

They really loved playing with this play dough. The cat also knew that it is eatable as it licked the traces of the play dough on the tiles!

I wasn't sure what Husna was doing. She said 'main potong-potong' :p

Hadiff made cat miniature.

My tips on how to play this play dough.

1- Do not play on newspaper, as the carbon may contaminate the play dough. Let them play on tiles. Sweeping and moping the tiles are really easy to do unlike the 'plasticin'.
2- This play dough may stick on the clothes and a bit difficult to remove via normal machine washing cycle. I brushed their clothes before dumped them into the machine.
3- My kids love making food miniature. They also love playing 'masak-masak' with it. I allow them to use small cooking pots and cooking utensils as the play dough is non toxic.
4- Keep the dough in an air tight container. You may want to separate the colours (but I did not heheheheh.. the colours are totally inseparable now :p )

That is all for now! Have fun!

IcEpAck FrEe

My sister is a nurse kat a private hospital dan anak dia selalu amik antibiotik. And since antibiotik kena mantain in low temperature, normally hospital akan bg sekali dengan ice block yang besar gedabak. I did mention to her to keep all the ice block as I need it for my EBM, ulang alik bawak balik keja. Recently, she passed to me 6 icepack blocks.. Best-best. I don't have to buy any icepack to replace my almost hancuss MLO icepack.

These icepack blocks shall be converted to small size icepack to fit into coolerbag with several bottles of EBM (normally 6 bottles laa).

Ice block (thermafreeze), MLO ice pack and plasticbag (last time i used zipper bag yg org letak makanan tp pas pindah ni semua benda tak jumpa)

Reusable bag which I got it free from somewhere, same material as MLO icepack pouch to prevent sweating, food scale and a pair of glove

Cara
1- Timbang icepack MLO, so that we can make icepack with almost same size as MLO.
2-Ceduk gel masukkan ke dalam plastik.
3- Plastik yang mengandungi gel dimasukkan ke dalam plastik kosong supaya jadik double layer. Tahan lasak sikitkan...
4- Lipat kemas-kemas dan selotep dihujung.
5- Beg free to potong same size dengan pouch MLO tp tinggalkan sikit tuk hemp. Me malas nak jahit jelujur so nanti nak suh sapa2 tolong jahitkan.
6- Masukkan lam peti ais bahagian beku atau deep freezer anda.
7- Dah keras leh la guna.

Nota kaki:
Ensure that your kids are not around masa buat ni.
Eventhough you wear glove, please.. please.. wash your hand thoroughly before handling other things.

Hmm..thinking of giving away ice block2 tu..but how la? Ada org interested nak ka?
But prefer passing ja, sebab it is heavy.. post mesti mahal.

ThIngS I WiSh 2 dO aFtEr I PoPpEd!

There are many things I wish I have done before after I delivered HadiffBolat.
Things that I cannot do while in this pregnancy state.
I would really love to opt for a GREEN living.

Apa dia rr?

1 - Use Cloth PadBenefits of using CP:
source: http://www.menstruation.com.au/menstrualproducts/cloth-menstrual-pads.html

There are many reasons to change to using cloth menstrual pads. Some of them include:

Improve your health by reducing your exposure to harmful chemicals. Disposable pads contain a myriad of chemicals and additives which serve to increase their absorbancy and keep them looking white and bright but these chemicals don't do you any good at all.

Your genital tissue is highly sensitive, and these chemicals are easily absorbed into your body, causing irritation and discomfort in the process. We already live in increasingly polluted environments, so it makes sense to reduce your exposure to chemicals in any way you can.

Increased comfort - Because Pleasure Puss cloth menstrual pads are made from natural cotton fabrics, they are cool and comfortable to wear. Unlike plastic used in disposable pads, cotton allows your skin to breathe, reducing the likelihood of fungal infections.

Natural cotton is also unlikely to cause any irritation to your sensitive skin. And lets face it - that part of your body is one of the most sensitive parts of your whole person - so be nice to it.

Convenience - By using cloth menstrual pads you always have fresh, clean pads on hand when you need them - meaning there are no more last minute dashes to the shop.

You'll get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that at least in one small way you are not contributing more rubbish to our already overloaded world. The statistics on how many tampons and sanitary pads that are added to landfill each year are frightening. In most cases they don't break down, nor are they recycled. By using cloth pads, you can help reverse this trend and leave the world a better place.

You will feel more in touch with your body - it is amazing what effect the process of no longer throwing your blood in the garbage has on your relationship to your body and your periods. Many women have reported on how using cloth menstrual pads has changed their attitude to themselves - positively.

You will save money - Investing in good quality menstrual pads will cost you only a small percentage of what disposables are costing you now.

hmm... need to start eyeing for a good brand and buy it. Sapa2 nak bg suggestion?

2- Religiously indulge myself in babywearing
Not that I am not into thing glamm thing (galammerr tuuu) but may be less using my devoted Combi?

10 reasons to wear your baby..

source : http://www.naturalchild.org/guest/laura_simeon.html
1. Wearing a baby is convenient.

When we carry a baby in a sling, we can walk around freely and not have to worry about negotiating steps, crowds or narrow aisles with a stroller. Plastic "baby buckets" and removable car seats are heavy and awkward for parents, babies often look uncomfortable, and they are kept at knee level. A sling can block out excess stimuli when breastfeeding a distractible baby, and it allows for discreet nursing in public places. A sling can also double as a changing pad, blanket, or cushion when away from home. I've found my sling especially handy when negotiating busy airports with a small child and several bags!

2. Wearing a baby promotes physical development.

When a baby rides in a sling attached to his mother, he is in tune with the rhythm of her breathing, the sound of her heartbeat, and the movements his mother makes – walking, bending, and reaching. This stimulation helps him to regulate his own physical responses, and exercises his vestibular system, which controls balance. The sling is in essence a "transitional womb" for the new baby, who has not yet learned to control his bodily functions and movements. Research has shown that premature babies who are touched and held gain weight faster and are healthier than babies who are not1. Mechanical swings and other holding devices do not provide these same benefits.

3. Babies worn in slings are happier.

Studies have shown that the more babies are held, the less they cry and fuss2. In indigenous cultures where baby-wearing is the norm, babies often cry for only a few minutes a day – in contrast to Western babies, who often cry for hours each day. Crying is exhausting for both the baby and his parents, and may cause long-term damage as the baby's developing brain is continually flooded with stress hormones.3 Babies who do not need to spend their energy on crying are calmly observing and actively learning about their environment. Baby-wearing is especially useful for colicky babies, who are far happier being worn, but placid, content babies and children will also benefit greatly from the warmth and security of being held close.

4. Baby-wearing is healthy for you!

It can be challenging for new mothers to find time to exercise, but if you carry your baby around with you most of the day or go for a brisk walk with your baby in her sling, you will enjoy the dual benefits of walking and "weightlifting". A long walk in the sling is also an excellent way to help a tired but over-stimulated child fall asleep.

5. Toddlers appreciate the security of the sling.

Slings are usually associated with infants, but they can be very useful for toddlers as well; most slings accommodate children up to 35 or 40 pounds. The world can be a scary place for toddlers, who feel more confident when they can retreat to the security of the sling when they need to do so. Toddlers often become over-stimulated, and a ride in the sling helps to soothe and comfort them before (or after!) a "melt-down" occurs. It can be very helpful in places like the zoo, aquarium, or museum, where a small child in a stroller would miss many of the exhibits.

6. Baby-wearing helps you and your baby to communicate with each other.

The more confidence we have in our parenting, the more we can relax and enjoy our children. A large part of feeling confident as a parent is the ability to read our baby's cues successfully. When we hold our baby close in a sling, we become finely attuned to his gestures and facial expressions. Many baby-wearing parents report that they have never learned to distinguish their baby's cries – because their babies are able to communicate effectively without crying! Every time a baby is able to let us know that she is hungry, bored or wet without having to cry, her trust in us is increased, her learning is enhanced, and our own confidence is reinforced. This cycle of positive interaction enhances the mutual attachment between parent and child, and makes life more enjoyable for everyone.

7. Slings are a bonding tool for fathers, grandparents, and other caregivers.

Slings are a useful tool for every adult in a baby's life. It makes me smile when I see a new father going for a walk with his baby in a sling. The baby is becoming used to his voice, heartbeat, movements and facial expressions, and the two are forging a strong attachment of their own. Fathers don't have the automatic head-start on bonding that comes with gestation, but that doesn't mean they can't make up for this once their baby is born. The same goes for babysitters, grandparents and all other caregivers. Cuddling up close in the sling is a wonderful way to get to know the baby in your life, and for the baby to get to know you!

8. Slings are a safe place for a child to be.

Instead of running loose in crowded or dangerous places, a child in a sling is held safe and secure right next to your body. Slings also provide emotional safety when needed, so that children can venture into the world and become independent at their own pace.

9. Slings are economical.

Slings cost far less than strollers, front-carriers or backpacks. Many mothers consider the sling to be one of their most useful and economical possessions. A sling can also be sewn for the price of a length of cotton, some rings and batting; sling patterns are available.

10. Baby-wearing is fun.

Who doesn't love to cuddle a precious little baby? And when your baby is older, having her in the sling makes conversations easier and allows you to observe her reactions to the wonders of the world around her. It's also fun for baby, because when she is up at eye level, other adults notice and interact with her more. Your child will feel more a part of your life when she is in her sling, and you will find yourself becoming more and more enchanted with this special little person

Me wearing HadiffBolat in my very first DIY batik lepas ring sling.really miss that moments!! Now I have 3 ring slings, 2 pouches and 1 SSC and only one baby besar to be carried (huhh?!). Adding one more baby will definitely justify my nafsu to buy more stash...yeayy!!!

Note: I would love to try wraps and mei tai..

3- Start using Cloth Diapers as soon as possible after the baby is born.

HadiffBolat memang in CD most of time except bila out of stock (Ummi malas basuh..)..
will continue the regime dengan this coming baby..will start earlier, masa Hadiff dulu I took almost 2 months to study the pros and cons of CD, That is why Hadiff started using CD when he was 5 months old.

4- Continue my breastfeeding passion..really miss my pumping session with my Freestyle lor... (hmm dah jadik apa ekk ngan that breastpump?..) lamanya xmenjengok keadaan dia dalam almari..)..Mental note : kena check balik kampung nih..

5- Use cloth wipes instead of commercial baby wipes.
I won 3 pcs of cloth wipes from mamapatch as one of the winning prizes in babywearing contest... would love to use these cloth wipes on my coming child and definitely need to add few more pieces....

No sew Ring Sling

Hahh!! Its been a long time i dreamed of having my own ring sling.. Have a pouch from MyLovelyCloset which I loved it (initially yes) but not any more as the material had slightly distended. Now, I felt uncomfortable carrying each-day-getting-heavier-and-heavier Hadiff. So the pouch goes into the closet.. So the next generation of baby carrier submerged in the mind of money spender.. as usual.. searching the net looking for a affordable yet practical and presentable ring sling has began.. wooww wiie... why does it has to be expensive? At last I ended up at Jan Andrea DIY.. it is a very fantastic and great web.. giving out option for moms who like to do things (and of course has the hands that can do... (pls exclude me out of this category).

So I bought a medium size aluminium ring from demoments.net.. RM22, bought a 2m long cloth from Kamdar but not able to put these together despite of getting help from the whole department of R&D. The Susuibu.com gathering helped a lot to materialize my dream.. Shida of Charantya did a demo and in fact she helped me putting Hadiff in a sling ring she brought. Later on the same day, I bought a kain batik lepas RM22.Tried it and love it!!

Test on Shida's sling

My sling in action

Also act as a blanket

I am eyeing on Mei Tai now.. calculating on buying it in the near soon.. but may be no.. ooppss may be yes.. arrghh!!! Pompuan..pompuan... hehehehe
